It is active, courageous, and transformative. Paul boldly proclaimed the Kingdom of God in the synagogue for three months. True compassion always finds another way to reach people. Paul’s ministry was not merely about preaching sermons; it was about touching broken lives. God worked extraordinary miracles through him, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him became channels of healing, and those oppressed by evil spirits were set free. One day, he passed a hungry woman and did nothing. Later, he couldn’t forget it. He asked himself: What good is a fast that empties the stomach but leaves the heart unchanged? This question reflects a struggle many of us face— can our devotion look   sincere outwardly while remaining unchanged within? Isaiah 58 addresses this directly. God speaks to people who fasted but ignored justice and compassion. Their worship did not match their actions. DEVOTION A famine forces Naomi, her husband Elimelek and their two sons, Mahlon and Kilion, to leave Bethlehem (the house of bread) to Moab, a foreign land. At Moab although they found food and shelter tragedy hit the family; Elimelek died and Naomi was left with her two sons.  The sons married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they have lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Kilion also died, leaving Naomi with her two daughters-in-law. Although Elimelek and family went to Moab on their own without seeking God’s counsel, God did not forget Naomi. At the right time God gave Naomi the good sense to return to Judah. Yet, for many of us, this can be one of the hardest commands to follow. Deuteronomy 10 reminds us that loving God is not simply about what we say or believe; it is reflected in how we live. God calls us to fear Him, walk in obedience, love Him, and serve Him with all our hearts (Deut.  10:12 ). He also calls us to care for those who are vulnerable, overlooked, or in need. Believers are described as “living stones,” being built into a spiritual house with Christ as the cornerstone. Peter urges us to put aside malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander, attitudes that weaken the Church and instead live in ways that strengthen one another. The Church is strengthened as its members grow in faith, deepen their knowledge of Scripture, and actively share the message of Christ with others. Because of their disobedience, the Israelites were oppressed by the Midianites for seven years. Fear dominated their lives. Gideon himself was hiding in a winepress, threshing wheat in secret to protect it from the enemy. Yet it was in this moment of weakness that God appeared to Gideon and called him a "mighty warrior." God did not see Gideon merely as he was; He saw him as he could become through divine grace and empowerment. Gideon felt inadequate, insignificant, and unqualified. However, God's response was simple: "I will be with you" (v.16). The church today often faces challenges that can create fear, discouragement, and uncertainty.
