Marriage Celebration of Unity and Partnership”

Bible Reading: I Corinthians 13:1-13

Key verse:  4

 Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does nor boast, it is not proud”.

DEVOTION

The sacrament of marriage in the Mar Thoma Church reminds us of its nature - a covenant relationship between God and humans. As we study the Bible, we see certain special relationships between God and humans known as the covenant relationship…. with Abraham, with Noah, with Israel. This is the same specialty given for the institution of marriage. What a privilege to carry!
The institution of marriage is founded on the principle of unity, and in 1Corinthians Paul describes this unity without love is empty. He describes love as patient and kind; it doesn’t envy or boast; it bears and endures all things. This is the love called to dwell at the center of every Christian marriage. Matthew 19:6 Jesus reminds us “so they are no longer two, but ONE (unified) flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” This passage emphasizes that marriage is not just about cohabiting but to synergies our everything for His glory. Marriage is the epitome of unity.

This is why Amos 3:3 speaks so powerfully, describes marriage as a partnership of unity - agreeing to walk together in heart and mind. It is the foundation on which this covenant is knit. 

Let’s be reminded that marriage is God’s gift and His perfect design. 
 

PRAYER

Abba Father, we thank you for the gift of marriage and the covenant of love you’ve with us. We believe God is Love, and pray that our love reflects your own. Keep us united in one Spirit. In Jesus’ name we pray.

Thought for the DAY

Let the love of Christ flow through us enabling us to be His ambassadors of love in this broken world.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God.
