Celebration of Unity and Partnership - Loving Even When We Do Not Fully Understand

Bible Reading:   1 Samuel 1:4–8

Key verse 8

"Her husband Elkanah would say to her, 'Hannah, why are you weeping?... Don't I mean more to you than ten sons?'" – 1 Samuel 1:8

DEVOTION

Marriage is God's sacred covenant where two individuals journey together through seasons of joy and sorrow. In 1 Samuel 1:4–8, Hannah's anguish over her childlessness is met not with Elkanah’s criticism but with his compassionate concern. Though he could not remove her pain, he chose to stand beside her. His response reminds us that the strength of marriage is not found in a life free from difficulties, but in faithfully facing them together. Unity in marriage is more than shared happiness; it is shared burdens, mutual encouragement, and unwavering commitment. Life often brings disappointments that neither spouse can solve alone. Yet when husband and wife walk together in faith, they become living witnesses of God's sustaining grace. Christian marriage reflects Christ's love. It is selfless, patient, and steadfast. It calls couples to listen with empathy, speak with kindness, pray together, and trust God's timing, even when answers seem delayed. Hannah's story eventually reveals God's faithfulness, but before the miracle came, her husband was called simply to be present. May every marriage become a testimony that true partnership is built not

PRAYER

Gracious Lord, strengthen every marriage with love, unity, patience, and faith. Help couples to bear one another's burdens and reflect Christ's love in their homes. Amen.
