God’s unfailing presence in crises

Bible Reading: Exodus 14:10-25

Key verse 13-14

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today… The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

DEVOTION

Today’s passage draws our attention to the mighty hand of the Lord and the deliverance He brings to His people. The rescue at the Red Sea was a miracle that could only be attributed to God alone. With power and authority, He broke the chains of Israel’s slavery and acted decisively on their behalf.
Verse 30 tells us that when the Israelites saw and experienced the Lord’s mighty hand displayed against the Egyptians, they feared the Lord and put their trust in Him and in Moses, His servant. This extraordinary act at the roaring sea propelled Israel forward into their journey toward the promised land.
Throughout human history, the strong arm of the Lord has worked for His people—leading them to victory, delivering them from danger, and rescuing them even when their own rebellion caused their distress.
The psalmist declares:
Psalm 89:13 – “Your arm is endowed with power; Your hand is strong, Your right hand exalted.”
Psalm 118:15 – “Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous; the Lord’s right hand has done great things.”
In the fullness of time, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, as the final and perfect remedy for the restoration of His people. Through His perfect life, substitutionary death, and victorious resurrection, Christ accomplished a deliverance far greater than the exodus from Egypt. He secured salvation and eternal victory over sin and death for all who trust in Him.
Let our response today to this great act of deliverance be sincere, awestruck worship—honoring, glorifying, and praising Him every day.

Heavenly Father, we give You thanks for the deliverance granted to us through the profound sacrifice of Christ on the cross, a grace that remains active and sustaining every day. We ask that You fortify our faith, anchor our wills in obedience, and empower our lives to bring honor to Your name. Amen.
