Reformation: A Call for Renewal

Bible Reading: Psalms 119: 25-32

Key verse:  32

"I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding." Psalm 119:32 (NIV)

DEVOTION

The Protestant Reformation was not merely a movement to correct religious practices; it was a call to return to God's Word and renew our relationship with Him. Psalm 119:25–32 beautifully reflects this longing for spiritual renewal. The psalmist begins with a heart weighed down: "My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word" (v.25). Renewal always begins when we recognize our spiritual dryness and seek God's life-giving Word.
The psalmist does not depend on human wisdom or strength. Instead, he prays for understanding, strength, guidance, and an undivided heart. True reformation is not about outward change alone; it is an inward transformation brought about by God's truth. As the Word of God renews our minds, it reshapes our desires, strengthens our faith, and enables us to walk faithfully in His ways.
Today, the Church and every believer are called to the same renewal. God invites us to leave behind spiritual complacency, embrace His truth, and run with joy in the path of His commandments. A renewed heart always leads to a renewed life, and a renewed Church becomes a powerful witness to the world.

PRAYER

Gracious Heavenly Father, revive us according to Your Word. Remove spiritual weariness and fill our hearts with a fresh desire to know and obey You. Teach us Your ways, strengthen our faith, and renew Your Church through the power of Your Holy Spirit. May our lives reflect Your truth and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
 

THOUGHT FOR THEE DAY

Reformation begins when God's Word revives our hearts, renews our minds, and transforms our lives.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God.
