Embracing the Immigrants and Refugees 

Bible Reading:  Genesis 18:1–8

Key verse:  4

- “Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree.” (Genesis 18:4)

DEVOTION

When Abraham looked up and noticed three strange people near his tent at Mamre, he moved toward them with eagerness and humility. Abraham showed kindness in simple but powerful ways, he ran to meet the guests, bowed in respect, offered water, rest, and prepared a generous meal for them. His kindness wasn’t discriminating, it was immediate, wholehearted, and filled with honor. Abraham and Sarah’s simple act of hospitality became the doorway through which God delivered a promise.
For immigrants, this story carries a gentle promise: God sees you, God draws near to you, and God values your journey. In a new land, it’s easy to feel invisible or uncertain, but Scripture reminds us that God often reveals Himself in the lives of those who are traveling, transitioning, and rebuilding. Your story is not random; it is a place where God chooses to work and dwell. Many of us can remember how we felt when we came as immigrants to this country and how God placed people in our lives and how they showed hospitality to us.
Abraham’s tent was not a permanent home; it was temporary shelter. Yet even there, God arrived. In the same way, God places people along your path who will open doors, speak kindness, and help you flourish. You are not abandoned. In God’s kingdom, you are deeply welcomed. God who approached Abraham’s tent walks beside you today. He knows your courage, your sacrifices. Let us be a blessing to others we meet every day.

PRAYER

Lord, surround every immigrant and refugee with Your peace and protection. Provide strength for their journey, guidance for their steps, and favor in every new place. Let each transition become a doorway to hope. Amen.

 

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

     When we make room for others with kindness and humility, we make room for God to move in our lives.  Small acts of service often become the soil where God plants His greatest blessings.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God.
