Ordained Ministry: Call to be sacrifice

Bible Reading:  Psalm 132

Key verse:  3-5

“I will not enter my house or go to my bed, I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.” Pslam 132:3-5 1:5

DEVOTION

The passage, Psalms 132, discusses David. David was the King of Israel. He lived in royal, vast, and beautiful palaces. We read in verses 3 and 4 that David declares he will neither enter his house nor sleep nor slumber. Why would David not want to enter, sleep, or slumber in his house? Because he longs for something more. In verse 5, we read, David will not rest till he “find[s] a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.” David wants a house for the Lord. In our homes, in the places we dwell, and in the places we visit frequently, is God present? Do we make space for God, welcome his presence, treat him as a royal guest? David brings up an important need for Christians. We need to make room for God. In our lives, in what we do, in how we treat people, we must welcome God. God is the silent guest at every table, the head of the house, the solid foundation. Let's acknowledge God’s presence. Let us strive to welcome God into our lives. Let us sacrifice our time, energy, and will build up the spiritual house of the Lord. The Church has been ordained as God’s home. As we welcome God into our homes, God is calling us to His! Come to church! Rejoice with parishioners. And serve your time, be a living sacrifice, and dwell in the house of the Lord.

PRAYER

: Lord, as we pray, we may be at home, work, or school. Wherever we are, we ask for your presence. May everything, we do be in service for you. Amen.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God. Priests are always separated and appointed as channels that connect God with his people. All throughout the history of Israel, priests played an important role in connecting people with God and to lead and guide them in the statutes of God.
