Ordained Ministry: Call to be sacrifice

Bible Reading:  Jeremiah 1:1–10

Key verse:  5

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

DEVOTION

Jeremiah began his ministry during a difficult season in Judah's history. The nation was spiritually unfaithful, morally corrupt, and surrounded by powerful empires competing for dominance. In the midst of this uncertainty, God called Jeremiah and reminded him that His plan for Jeremiah's life had begun long before his birth. God had known him, set him apart, and prepared him for a specific purpose.
Jeremiah's first response was not confidence but hesitation. He saw only his youth and lack of experience, believing he was unqualified for such an enormous responsibility. Yet God shifted Jeremiah's attention away from his limitations and toward His own sufficiency. The Lord promised to go with him wherever He sent him, to give him the words to speak, and to protect him through every hardship he would face. God did not promise an easy life, but He did promise His constant presence.
Many believers today respond to God's calling as Jeremiah did. We often feel inadequate, uncertain, or afraid to step into the opportunities God places before us. However, God's work has never depended on human ability alone. He faithfully equips those who trust and obey Him. Whether our calling is public or private, extraordinary or ordinary, we are all called to glorify God through lives of faithful service. Instead of allowing fear to hold us back, we can move  forward with confidence, knowing that the God who calls us will also strengthen and sustain us.

PRAYER

 Abba, Father, thank You for knowing me personally and preparing a purpose for my life. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear, doubt, or feelings of inadequacy to keep me from following Your will. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, strengthen my faith, and help me trust that You will equip me for every task You have entrusted to me. May my life bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God.
