Jesus the Ultimate Influencer
Bible Reading: Acts 2:36-41
Key verse:
37. When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
DEVOTION
Picture the moment. A crowd gathers—curious, unsure, maybe even sceptical. Then Peter stands up and says something that hits them straight in the heart: “God has made this Jesus… both Lord and Messiah.”
Suddenly, everything changes. These aren’t just words anymore—they’re life changing words that cut to the heart. You can almost feel the silence before someone finally asks, “What should we do?”
This is what real influence looks like. It doesn’t just entertain—it stops you, challenges you, and calls you to respond. Peter tells them: repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Spirit.
And incredibly, about 3,000 people respond that day. Lives completely change.
We talk a lot about influencers today—people with big followings and strong “brands.” They often point us toward a product or a lifestyle. But if we’re honest, chasing those things rarely brings lasting freedom or satisfaction (Ecclesiastes 2:11).
Jesus is different. He doesn’t just promote a lifestyle—He points us to the source of life itself. He invites us to God, the “living water” (John 4:14), and promises something no trend ever can: eternal life (John 3:16).
And His influence lasts. For over 2,000 years, across nations, cultures, and generations (Matthew 28:19), His words have continued to change hearts. That’s real influence—deep, lasting, and far-reaching. Jesus doesn’t just influence what you wear or watch. He influences who you become (2 Corinthians 5:17).
So the question from Acts is still for us today: What will we do?
Will we keep following passing voices…or will we choose to follow Jesus—the one who leads to true freedom (John 8:36) and life?
PRAYER
“Lord Jesus, thank You that You are the ultimate influencer in my life. Help me to hear Your voice above all others and give me the courage to respond. Lead me to living water and true freedom, and help me follow You fully every day. Amen.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The voices of this world may attract attention for a moment, but only Jesus transforms hearts for eternity. Today, choose to follow the One whose influence brings true freedom, lasting purpose, and eternal life.
