Creation speaks of God

Bible Reading: : Exodus 3:1-5

Key verse:  
4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”
DEVOTION

By the time we reach this chapter in Exodus, Moses has already lived an extraordinary life—surviving infancy in a basket, growing up in Pharaoh’s palace, and fleeing as a fugitive. His journey has clearly been shaped by a hidden hand, yet up to this point, Moses has never actually heard God's voice. When God called Moses, he is doing nothing remarkable. He is simply tending sheep in the wilderness. It would have been easy for him to assume his grand days were behind him and settle into the quiet routine of a shepherd. But God often chooses the middle of our ordinary routines to reveal His extraordinary presence. Moses notices a strange sight: a bush that is on fire yet not consumed (Exodus 3:2). As he turns aside to look closer, the external wonder becomes an intimate, internal encounter. God calls him by name: "Moses! Moses!" (Exodus 3:4). What makes this fire divine is that it doesn't destroy the bush to keep itself going; it sustains it. This was the turning point for Moses. His ordinary life was transformed because he realized it wasn’t the miracle of the fire that mattered most, but the Voice speaking through it. God was preparing him for a massive mission of deliverance, but first, Moses had to learn to depend on God's power, not his own. This passage challenges us deeply. Moses stood on physical holy ground because God was present (Exodus 3:5). Today, through the Holy Spirit, we are the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16). It is so easy to become bunched up in the busyness of serving God that we forget to reflect Him. We try to run on our own fuel, and we burn out. But when God is truly at work within us, He doesn’t consume us—He transforms and sustains us (2 Corinthians 4:16). Like that bush, we are called to be set alight with His Spirit (Romans 12:11) so that our lives point others to the One who holds everything in His hands. We are not just passive displays of God's workmanship. We are called to be voices in the wilderness, speaking of His deliverance to a world that desperately needs it.

PRAYER

 Lord, open my eyes to see You around me and within me. Set my heart on fire with Your presence, sustain me by Your grace, and let my life reflect You. Amen.

He sustains us like the burning bush and uses us as living witnesses of His grace and deliverance.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God.
