RISEN CHRIST: “The Spirit Who Dwells Within”

Bible Reading: : John 14:16–19

Key Verse:  19

:     "Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live."

DEVOTION

In this passage, Jesus is telling to His disciples, that Jesus will be departing from them physically in a short while, but they will not be abandoned. He speaks of “another Helper” that is the Spirit of truth, who will come to dwell within them. This is not a temporary presence, nor a distant influence, but a permanent indwelling. The world may not see Him or recognize Him, but those who belong to Christ know Him intimately, because He lives within them.
There is deep comfort in this promise. Life often brings moments of loneliness, uncertainty, and fear. Yet Jesus assures us, “I will not leave you as orphans.” The Holy Spirit is God’s continuing presence in our lives will be guiding, comforting, correcting, and strengthening us. He does not merely visit; He abides. Wherever we go, whatever we face, we carry within us the very presence of God.
This truth also calls us to awareness. If the Spirit dwells within us, our lives become His dwelling place. Our thoughts, words, and actions matter deeply. We are not alone in our struggles, nor are we left to rely on our own strength. The Spirit teaches us truth, reminds us of Christ’s words, and empowers us to live in a way that reflects Him.
Jesus also declares, “Because I live, you also will live.” The presence of the Spirit is a living connection to Christ Himself. It is through the Spirit that we experience His life, His peace, and His victory even in the midst of trials.

PRAYER

Gracious Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit who dwells within us.  Help us to be mindful of Your presence in our daily life. Guide our thoughts, words, and actions so that they reflect Your truth and love. Strengthen us in moments of weakness and remind us that we are never alone. May Your Spirit lead us closer to You each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

: We are never alone. The Spirit of God lives within us, guiding, strengthening, and assuring us of Christ’s presence every moment.
