“Teach Me to Walk in Your Spirit”

       Bible Reading: :   Psalm 143

   Key Verse:  10

: “Teach me to do Your will, because You are my God; may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground” (Psalm 143:10).

DEVOTION

Psalm 143, is a heartfelt cry of a weary soul seeking God’s guidance, mercy, and presence. David was  burdened and pursued. He does not rely on his own strength or wisdom. Instead, he humbly turns to God and prays, “Teach me to do Your will, because You are my God; may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground” (Psalm 143:10).
This prayer reveals a deep spiritual truth: walking in God’s Spirit is not automatic. It must be learned. It requires surrender, dependence, and a willing heart. David does not ask merely for deliverance from his enemies, but he seeks for direction in his life. He longs not just to escape trouble, but to walk rightly before God.
To walk in the Spirit means allowing God to guide our thoughts, decisions, and actions. It means trusting His voice over our fears, His wisdom over our understanding. Often, like David, we find ourselves in dry and difficult places, confused, tired, or uncertain. Yet in those moments, God invites us not to strive harder, but to seek Him deeper.
“Teach me,” David says. This is the posture of a disciple: open, teachable, and humble. When we ask God to teach us, we acknowledge that we do not have all the answers. We invite His Spirit to shape our path and align our hearts with His will.
Today, let this be our prayer: not just for solutions, but for guidance; not just for relief, but for transformation. Ask God to lead us step by step, to make our path straight, and to fill us with His Spirit.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we come before You with a humble heart. Teach us to do Your will and lead us by Your Spirit. When we are uncertain, guide us. When we are weak, strengthen us. Help us to walk in Your truth and live a life that pleases You. Let Your Spirit lead us on level ground, and keep us close to You always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
