Life in the Spirit;  Freedom from Condemnation

Bible Reading: :  Romans 8:1–11

Key Verse:  2

For the law of the spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death

DEVOTION

The eighth chapter of Epistle to the Romans opens with one of the most comforting promises in Scripture: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” What a glorious assurance for every believer”? Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the burden of guilt and the judgment of sin have been removed. Those who belong to Christ are no longer prisoners of condemnation but children walking in grace and freedom.
Before knowing Christ, humanity lived under the power of sin and the weakness of the flesh. The flesh draws us toward selfish desires, fear, anger, and spiritual death. But God did not leave us helpless. He sent His Son to defeat sin and gave us the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. The Spirit changes the direction of our lives. Instead of being controlled by the flesh, we are called to walk according to the Spirit.
Life in the Spirit is not merely emotional excitement; it is daily surrender to God. The Spirit renews our minds, gives us peace, strengthens us against temptation, and produces holy desires within us. Romans 8 reminds us that “to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” When the Spirit leads us, our hearts are turned toward God’s will, prayer becomes meaningful, and obedience becomes joyful.
The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lives in believers. This truth gives hope, strength, and confidence. Even in weakness and struggle, God’s Spirit is at work within us, shaping us into the likeness of Christ and assuring us that we belong to Him.
Today, let us reject the voice of condemnation and embrace the freedom Christ has given. Walk in the Spirit, trust in God’s grace, and live in the peace of His presence.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for removing our condemnation through Jesus Christ. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and help us to walk in obedience, peace, and holiness. Strengthen us to overcome the desires of the flesh and to live each day under Your guidance. Let Your Spirit renew our minds and draw us closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Where the Spirit of God rules, condemnation loses its power and peace fills the heart.
