DEVOTION

Our Scripture Reading today is about very familiar passage in the Acts of the Apostles Chapter 27. Paul as Roman Citizen appeals to Ceaser for justice, and Apostle Paul is being transferred to Rome. During the journey , Apostle Paul and those accompanying him in the ship, gets caught in a storm in the sea.
As we read the passage , we see that there is fear and pandemonium that has filled the ship. The ship crew was planning to escape leaving Paul and rest of the passengers in the ship  crash into the rocky coast.  Paul sensing the fear stood up and addressed those in the ship and told them all very boldly, that  none of them would lose their lives. Additionally Paul urged them to consume food as it has been several days since they consumed food or water. Paul then went on to break bread in the midst of the storm and urged all those in the ship to eat as well. Paul’s  act of breaking the bread encouraged those in the ship who were distressed and full of fear to consume food and revitalize their weary bodies and minds.
Paul’s  act of breaking bread in the midst of raging storm , is lesson for us to consider as we go through deep crises in our lives. As we approach the communion table to partake in the Lord’s Supper , we too will have bodies and souls revitalized by the Bread and Wine that Jesus calls us to partake.  The Communion Table and the elements of the Communion is how Jesus bring peace to our minds  and satiates the hunger of our souls. Let us leverage the Holy Communion to draw us closer to God as we renew our souls and minds.

PRAYER

Almighty and Gracious Lord , help us to partake of the Holy Elements of the Communion Table that will renew and revitalize our bodies , this we pray in the precious name of our Lord and Jesus Christ who gave His Life for the ransom of our souls and bodies. – AMEN.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

“Jesus has made Himself the Bread of Life to give us life . Night and Day , God is there , if you really want to grow in love , come back to the Eucharist , come back to that Adoration. “  – Mother Teresa
