Entry of the King of Peace

Bible Reading:  Mark 11:1–11

Key Verse Vs 9

“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord

DEVOTION

The triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem reveals Him as the King of Peace. He entered the city humbly, riding on a colt, and the people welcomed Him by spreading their garments and branches on the road and shouting praises.
This scene reminds me of a touching experience from my mission field experience. When our Metropolitan Theodosius Mar Thoma was serving as a diocesan Episcopa, he once visited the village of Bijjawara in Karnataka. It was the first time a bishop had visited that village. The believers washed the streets and spread their clothes and tree branches on the path to welcome him. Their humble devotion reflected the spirit of the people who welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem.
1. The Humble King
Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a colt, not on a war horse. This act fulfilled the prophecy of Zechariah in Book of Zechariah 9:9: “Behold, your king is coming to you; He is righteous and having salvation, humble and mounted on a donkey.” Reference: Philippians 2:6–8. Quote: “True greatness is found in humility.” St. Augustine
2. The Praised King
The people shouted “Hosanna!” and welcomed Him as the promised Messiah. Their praise fulfilled Psalm 118:26. True worship means recognizing Jesus not only with words but also with a surrendered life. Reference: Gospel of Luke 19:38.
3. The Purposeful King
After entering the city, Jesus went to the temple and looked around. He came with a clear mission—to bring salvation through the cross and restore true worship. Reference: Isaiah 53:5.
As Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem as the King of Peace, we are called to welcome Him into our hearts with humility, praise Him with sincere worship, and live as instruments of His peace in the world.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, our King of Peace, help us to welcome you with humble hearts and faithful lives. May our words, actions, and worship bring glory to your name. Fill our hearts with your peace and guide us in your ways. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

When the King of Peace enters our hearts, our lives become a path of humility and praise.
