A New way of Relating That breaks Chains

Bible Reading:  Ephesians 6: 5 – 9

Key Verse Vs 7

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, Eph 6: 7

DEVOTION

In Epistle to the Ephesians 6:5–9, the Apostle Paul teaches believers about the attitude they should have in their work and relationships. The key word in this passage is “Serve”
Paul instructs servants to obey their earthly masters with sincerity of heart, as they would serve Christ. This teaching goes beyond the simple relationship between a servant and a master. It speaks to every believer about how we should approach our daily responsibilities. Whether at work, at home, or in ministry, our actions should reflect the understanding that we are ultimately serving the Lord.
Many people work only when they are watched or when they expect recognition. But Paul reminds us that Christian service is not “eye-service,” performed merely to please people. Instead, we should serve wholeheartedly, doing the will of God from our hearts. When we work faithfully and honestly, even in small or unnoticed tasks, God sees and values our efforts.
Paul also speaks to masters, reminding them to treat others with fairness and respect. God shows no favoritism, and both master and servant stand equal before Him. This passage teaches us that in God’s kingdom, dignity, humility, and kindness should guide all relationships.
For us today, the message is clear: every task can become an act of worship when done for Christ. When we serve with sincerity, humility, and faithfulness, our daily work becomes a testimony of our faith.

PRAYER

Gracious Lord, help us to serve faithfully in every responsibility You have given us. Teach us to work with sincere hearts, not seeking human praise but desiring to honor You in all that we do. Fill us with humility, kindness, and integrity so that our lives may reflect Your love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Work done for Christ is never insignificant.
Serve faithfully even when no one is watching.
Treat others with fairness, remembering that we all serve the same Lord.
