Call to shoulder each other's burdens

Faith That Carries Others

Bible Reading: Mark 2:1-12

Key Verse Vs 5

“When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven you.’” — Gospel of Mark 2:5

DEVOTION

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can.” -John Wesley In Mark 2:1–12, we witness a beautiful picture of shared faith and compassionate action. The paralytic could not reach Jesus by himself, but four faithful friends refused to let his weakness become the end of his story. They carried him, climbed the roof, and lowered him before Christ. Their determination reveals the heart of true Christian community: we are called to shoulder one another’s burdens. “The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others.”(Albert Schweitzer) Often in life, we meet people who are spiritually, emotionally, or physically paralyzed—unable to move forward. Some are weighed down by sorrow, sin, loneliness, or fear. The passage challenges us: are we willing to become burden-bearers? True discipleship is not passive sympathy but active love that carries others into the presence of Jesus. Notice that Jesus first responds to their faith. Our faith can become a bridge of healing for someone else. When we pray for others, support them, visit them, or simply stand beside them, we participate in Christ’s restoring work. Today’s meditation invites us to look around and identify who needs your shoulder. In a world that often walks past the hurting, believers are invited to lift, carry, and care. When we bear each other’s burdens, we reflect the very heart of Christ, who first carried us.

PRAYER

Loving Lord Jesus, give us hearts that notice the hurting and hands ready to help. Teach us to carry one another’s burdens with compassion and faith. Make us true friends who bring others into Your healing presence. Strengthen us to reflect Your love in our daily lives. In Your gracious name we pray, Amen.
