Unity in Faith and Action
Bible Reading: Mark 6:32-44
Key verse: “They all ate and were satisfied.” Mark 5:42
DEVOTION
In life it is easy to forget anything is possible with God, especially when things get hard both physically and mentally. Mark 6:32-44 describes when Jesus fed the five thousand with only five loaves of bread and two fish despite the disciples thinking they did not have enough.
Even when the disciples thought that they didn’t have enough, they still listened to Jesus, which provided a great outcome! In verse 42 it says “They all ate and were satisfied”. Jesus is able to satisfy so many people with such little resources. If Christ can satisfy the physical hunger of so many people, we can point people to the way to quench their spiritual hunger.
Many of us have experienced the love of Christ first hand and saw how he quenched our spiritual hunger. As Christians we are called to point others to Christ by our faith and actions. Actions can do so much and bring others to the love and salvation of Jesus.
PRAYER
Lord, we thank you for the countless problems, both big and small, that you have solved throughout our lives. I pray that we may continue to lean and rely on you through the problems we may currently be facing. I pray that we may point others to your unconditional love and display how amazing and loving you are through our actions. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Today, remember that Christ can take you through any problem, just as he fed the five thousand with five loaves of bread and two fish. Even as we go through these problems, we can show others the love of Christ and guide them to Christ who makes a way through every problem.
