God is Sovereign over everyone and everything

Bible Reading:  1 Peter 5:7-11

Key verse: "Casting our burdens on the God who cares." 1 Peter 5:7

DEVOTION

Life is filled with difficulties of various kinds-financial hardship, relational conflicts, health issues, stress at work, parenting challenges, feeling lonely or isolated, losing a loved one, and a wide variety of other situations that can be quite difficult to get through. Our society may suggest that we seek ways to get through these difficulties with various techniques and methods, like meditations, seeing therapist, vacation, relaxing, and engaging in a hobby.
However, the Bible offers us something superior. The world offers techniques, but the Bible offers us truth-specifically truths about God. The bible tells us about who God is and what He does for us.
(v.7) Cast anxieties on God: Don't be weighed down by worries, give them to God, because he genuinely cares for you and is capable of handling them.
(v.8) Be alert and resist the Devil: Acknowledge the spiritual reality of your enemy, the devil, who prowls like a lion looking for victims. Stay alert and vigilant, resisting the devil's attack with a strong determination in faith.
(v.9) Stand firm with your brothers and sisters: Remember that suffering and trials are universal for Christians worldwide. Your struggles are not unique, so stand firm together in faith. (v.11) God will restore and strengthen: After a brief period of suffering, the God who called you to His eternal glory will restore, support and strengthen you on a firm foundation.
1 Peter 5:7-11 encourages believers to release their anxieties to God, who deeply cares for them, while remaining alert and resisting the devil, who prowls like a lion. They should stand firm in faith, knowing other Christians share their sufferings, because after a brief period of hardship, God will restore, strengthen, and establish them in His eternal glory. This passage offers hope and practical guidance for continuing trials by trusting God's provision, recognizing spiritual opposition, and finding strength in universal Christian. One of the biggest hindrances to cast our anxieties to God is that we are tempted to doubt His love and care, questioning why would he let you go through this. Remember it is not God's will for His children to continue to live under those burdens. In humility and with prayers we cast our worries on Him.

PRAYER

Our Heavenly father, give us wisdom to make right choices, courage to face challenges, gratitude for the gift of life, and a commitment to live with love and faith.
