Enduring peace through faithful proclamation

Bible Reading: :2 Timothy 2: 8-15

Key verse

Bible Verse::“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth”.

DEVOTION

As followers of Christ, we are obliged to maintain a Christ like image. Many times, we fall short in this aspect as we follow and act in accordance to what we think is Christ-like behavior. This is why Paul reminds Timothy and those reading the letter who Christ is. The death of Christ reminds us of the sacrifice He made for our sins and the selfless love He has for us. His resurrection reminds us of the hope we have in Him and the eternal life promised to us. His lineage from David reminds us of His kingship and that we are subjects in His kingdom. As subjects of His kingdom we are expected to act in a way that embodies what Christ practiced during His ministry and to spread the good news as He intended. Christ during his ministry faced hardships and ridicule but He persevered and stayed true to God’s word. We live in a world filled with false prophets and false prophecies. Messages of doom and destruction surround us and yet, Christ’s message was all about hope and love. We are set apart as Christians and it is our duty to persevere and follow the two fundamental truths that Christ gave us - love the Lord, your God and love your neighbor. Our deeds, words and actions should be a reflection of those truths such that when we stand in front of our Lord on judgement day, we stand proud and not ashamed in front of our Lord.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, guard the thoughts in our minds, the words on our lips and the actions of our hands so that they may be pleasing to You. Help us to understand Your truth and practice it in our daily lives. Help us to be examples of Your ministry and to lead and guide with love and hope. Amen.
