Joy rooted in Divine Love

DEVOTION

In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul describes a love that is deeper than emotion, stronger than circumstance. This love is often called Divine Love and Agape love that originates in God’s own character.  Divine love is self-giving, unconditional, and seeks the good of others without expecting anything in return.
Joy that is rooted in Agape love is a fruit of the Holy spirit from God and is from God. It is steady like God’s love. It is a source of strength when times are tough, it is the deep love that allows you to give even when you are empty, it helps us navigate difficult times with faith so we can share God’s love and eternal peace with those around you as well.
Paul’s words paint a picture of what this love looks like in action: this love is patient, kind, humble, forgiving, steady, and enduring. This is Agape in action—love that does not demand its own way, keeps no record of wrongs, and delights in truth. It allows us to show compassion, forgive, accept and live a fruitful life.
When we measure our lives against this description, we quickly see that this kind of love is beyond human ability—it is a gift poured into us from God Himself. And because it comes from Him, it produces a joy that is not fragile. Joy grounded in Divine love does not depend on success, acceptance, or ease; it rests on the unchanging character of God. And where His love is present, joy follows. When we allow that love to take root in us, guide our choices and fill our interactions, our joy becomes a testimony of His presence in us.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your incredible love that surpasses all understanding. Open my heart and help me Lord, to be deeply rooted and grounded in Your love today. When I feel unsteady or overwhelmed, remind me that Your love is my strength and foundation. May your love flow from me to others this holiday season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the DAY

Joy rooted in Divine love is not earned; it is received from our Lord, cultivated, and lived out daily.
