Empowered Despite Limitations
Bible Reading: Exodus 4:1-17
Key verse:
V 1 Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not
appear to you?’
DEVOTION
In Exodus 4:1–17, we encounter Moses wrestling with doubt. God calls him to a great mission — to lead the Israelites out of Egypt — yet Moses can only see his limitations. “What if they don’t believe me?” he asks. “I’m not eloquent… I’m slow of speech and tongue.” Moses sees weakness, but God sees potential.
This passage reminds us that our limitations do not disqualify us from God's calling. In fact, they create space for His power to shine through. God doesn’t dismiss Moses’ concerns; instead, He equips him — giving him signs, words, and even a partner in Aaron. God meets Moses in his weakness and offers divine strength.
We often feel unqualified for the roles God places before us — in ministry, family, work, or relationships. We compare ourselves to others, focusing on what we lack. But God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called. Like Moses, we must trust that God's presence and provision are enough.
God’s question in verse 11 still echoes today: “Who gave human beings their mouths?” In other words: If I made you, don’t you think I know what you’re capable of — especially when I am with you?
Let this be an encouragement: your limitations are not a dead end. They are an invitation to depend on the One who empowers.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for seeing beyond my weaknesses. Help me trust that You will equip me for
whatever You call me to. Use my limitations to reveal Your strength. Amen.
