Rooted in God’s wisdom from an early age.

Bible Reading: :  Proverbs 3: 1-8

Key verse

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3: 5-6

DEVOTION

Verses five and six of Proverbs are among the most cherished words in Scripture. They call us into a life of complete dependence on God—a wholehearted commitment to His wisdom above our own. This is the Father’s desire for His children: that we would lean fully upon Him and rest in His guidance.
Abraham, the “father of faith,” shows us both the strength and struggle of trust. When he believed God’s promise, it was counted to him as righteousness (Ro. 4:3; Gal. 3:6; Jas. 2:23). Yet when he leaned on his own understanding—fleeing to Egypt during famine (Gen. 12:10–20) or seeking a son through his own plan (Gen. 16:1–4)—he faltered. His story reminds us that faith is not born from reasoning in the mind but from believing with the heart.
God speaks the same assurance to us today: “Do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isa. 41:10). His presence is enough. He gives us courage to persevere, strength to endure, and grace to trust.
I have known this in my own journey. When I leaned on myself, I stumbled. But when I chose to lean on the Lord—even in challenges like my professional registration process—I found His strength carrying me through.
As we grow in knowing God, we grow in trusting Him. The more we draw near to Him, the easier it becomes to place our ways in His hands. Trusting Him does not mean a life free of obstacles or trials, but it does mean we are never alone in them. He goes before us, smoothing the path and guiding us to His intended destination.
Today, let us place ourselves wholly in His hands. Let us trust Him with our hearts, lean on Him in our weakness, and walk in the confidence that His way is always best.

PRAYER

Lord, teach me to lean on You wholly and not on my own understanding. Strengthen my heart to trust You in every season, and keep my eyes fixed on Your promises. Amen
