Leading with Faith

Bible Reading: : Acts 10: 1 – 8

Key verse

He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.

DEVOTION

Cornelius was a Roman centurion and a Gentile, yet his life style was of a man of deep faith in God. Today’s reading reminds us that God sees every sincere heart and honors those who seek Him, regardless of background or ethnicity. Cornelius became one of the earliest non-Jewish followers of Jesus, and his acceptance of Jesus marked a turning point in the spread of the Gospel.
What is amazing is how God orchestrated events in both Cornelius’ and Apostle Peter’s lives to bring about something great. As Cornelius received a vision from God in Caesarea, Peter was also being prepared through his own vision in Joppa. Their obedience led to a powerful encounter that opened the door of salvation to the Gentiles.
This teaches us an important lesson: when God gives us a vision or direction, He is also working behind the scenes to bring it to pass. He arranges people, circumstances, and timing so His purposes are fulfilled. God sees those who are truly seeking him and honors their faith.
We see this pattern throughout the Bible. In Acts 9, God gave visions to both Paul and Ananias, leading to Paul’s healing and calling. In Acts 8, God positioned Philip to meet the Ethiopian eunuch at just the right moment to explain the scripture. In Exodus 2, Moses’ mother placed him in a basket, and God orchestrated Pharoah’s daughter to find him - preserving Moses for his future mission.
These stories remind us that obedience to God often connects us to something much larger than ourselves. When we say yes to the Lord, we may become the answer to someone else’s prayer. Our role is simple: listen and obey. God’s role is everything else. Even when we can’t see the full picture, He is working all things together for good.

PRAYER

Merciful Father, thank you for seeing our hearts and for guiding our steps. We pray that you grant us faith to trust you completely, knowing you are working all things together for good. Amen

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

God often uses our obedience as a channel for His grace, bringing about transformation in the lives of others.
