COURAGE TO STAND – UNSHAKEN IN FAITH

Bible Reading:  Daniel: 6:1-10

Key verse:  

Verse 5: Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for any charges against  this man Daniel, unless it has something to do with the law of his God”.

DEVOTION

   This passage tells the story of Daniel, who despite the decree  issued by King Darius prohibiting prayer to anyone but the King for thirty days, remains steadfast in his  devotion to God. It is  a powerful narrrative that illustrates unwavering faith and courage in the face of adversity.  Let us ponder upon few key themes based on this passage.  1. COURAGE TO STAND FIRM:  Daniel's  decision to pray openly despite the potential consequences, exemplifies true courage.  His faith is not just a private matter, he boldly demonstrates in public, showing that his relationship with God is paramount.    2. FAITH OVER FEAR:  Daniel's  actions reflect  a profound understanding that his faith outweighs   the fear of earthly authority.  He  trusts in God's sovereignty  , knowing that even in the face of punishment,  God is ultimately in control.   3.  INTEGRITY  AND CONSISTENCY:   Daniel's routine of prayer highlights the importance of consistency in our spiritual practices.  His commitment  to prayer, even when it was forbidden , serves us a reminder to prioritize our spiritual disciplines, regardless of external pressures.  4. POWER OF PRAYER:    Daniel's  unwavering commitment to prayer demonstrates  the importance of maintaining our relationship with God.  In moments  of trial, prayer becomes our lifeline, providing strength  and guidance.    5.  DIVINE PROTECTION:  God's miraculous intervention when Daniel was thrown into the lion's den ,not only reinforced  his faith, but also served as a testimony  of God's  power to protect and save those who stand firm  in their trust in the one true God.
          In todays' world , we are often faced with challenges that test our faith. Like Daniel we must  stand unshaken and strong in  our beliefs regardless of societal pressures or opposition.  Let prayer be  the central part of our life.  In times of trial, turn to God, trusting only in Him who hears and answers.   Let our actions reflect our beliefs. Be consistent in our faith,  be able to stand with courage for what is  right. 
Strengthen  our hearts  to trust God's  soverignity.  Let us remember that God is in control.  Even when circumstances seem dire,  let us trust that He has a plan and will work thing out for our good.
 

PRAYER

 Dear Lord,  While meditating on Daniel's life, help us to remember that regardless of circumstances, our Lord  is in control of our life.  Give us the courage to stand unshaken in our prayer and faith life. Help us to be consistent in our faith and beliefs in all situations of life.  Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

 Can we live with integrity,  embrace prayer always, stand unshaken with challenges that   test our faith, and trust in God's  sovereignty.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water.
