Education that Discerns Divine Purpose

Bible Reading:     Mathew 7: 21-27

Key verse: “Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 7: 21

DEVOTION

Education is not merely the gaining of knowledge but the pursuit of wisdom that aligns with God’s will. In Matthew 7:21–27, Jesus contrasts two builders one wise, one foolish. The wise builder listens to God’s Word and puts it into practice, laying a foundation that withstands storms. The foolish builder hears but ignores, and his work collapses.
In the same way, true education is not measured by diplomas or achievements but by how well it helps us live out God’s divine purpose. We may learn many facts, but unless our learning leads us closer to God’s will, it is like building on sand. When our studies whether in school, work, or life are guided by Christ’s teachings, they become tools to serve Him and bless others. God has a unique purpose for each of us, and He has also placed within us the abilities needed to fulfill it. Some people discover their purpose early and continue to grow stronger in it, while for others, it takes much longer to recognize. Yet, a common challenge in our society is that many fail to align their educational pursuits with the God-given abilities and purposes He has designed for them.
Real wisdom is applying what we know in obedience to God. Education that discerns divine purpose is education that transforms both heart and mind to glorify the Lord.

PRAYER

Lord, grant me the wisdom not just to learn but to live according to Your will. Help me to build my life on the firm foundation of Your Word. May my education, experiences, and knowledge all serve to discern and fulfill Your divine purpose in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

True education is not what fills the mind but what shapes the heart to follow God’s will.
