God’s Love through Our Words
Bible Reading: Jeremiah 1: 1-10
Key verse:
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
DEVOTION
This is how God’s love prepares and calls us. What a powerful reminder of God’s love! Before Jeremiah ever spoke a word, before he knew who he was, God already knew him, loved him, and gave him purpose. The same is true for you and me—God’s love is not an afterthought. It began before our first breath.
God tells Jeremiah, the young man, that you are going to minister to the nations. Babylon is coming and is ready to take over the southern kingdom. Jerusalem is going to be destroyed. The best of you will be taken into captivity. It is a tough message to preach. God reveals His great love—personal, purposeful, present, and powerful.
God’s Love is Personal. “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” Lord is saying I have chosen you before you were born. I am going to set you apart. You will worship differently. you will walk differently, and you will witness differently. Your heart will be different.
God’s Love Gives Purpose. “Before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”. Love always carries intention. God not only makes us—He sets us apart for His work.
God’s Love Overcomes Fear. Jeremiah: “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”. God: “Do not say, ‘I am too young’ … You must go to everyone I send you.”. God’s love doesn’t deny our weakness—it transforms it. God will use our weakness, our limitations to use God’s strength. What excuses do we have for not answering God’s call for our life? Focus on God’s ability.
God’s Love is Present. ” Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you.”. God doesn’t promise an easy road, but He promises His presence on the road. God chooses us to do the very thing we lack the ability to do.
God’s Love Equips Us. “I have put my words in your mouth. Love equips us with what we need to fulfill. When we realize that success of our call is not based on our ability, but on our obedience. God will impart His power. He qualifies the chosen one.
God’s love is not just for Jeremiah—it is for each one of us. Let His love shapes our identity, fuel your purpose, conquer our fears, sustain our journey, and equip our mind.
PRAYER
Thank you Lord for calling us. Please give us the confidence in you to say ‘Yes’ to the call. Please equip us with your Presence. Amen.
