Women: Proclaimers and Practitioners of Change

Bible Reading:    Matthew 28:1-10

Key verse “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.’” (Mt. 28:10)

DEVOTION

As we reflect on the theme of women being proclaimers and practitioners of Christ, today’s passage reminds us that the resurrection story of Christ begins with women. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary journeyed to the tomb expecting to mourn, but instead were the first to encounter the risen Christ. In a society where women’s words were undervalued and dismissed, Jesus entrusted them to share His most important message. He instructed them to ‘Go and tell.’
God did not see them for their social status or authority, but for their faithfulness and obedient hearts. Their unwavering loyalty and willingness to follow His calling made them the first proclaimers of Christ’s victory over death. And by delivering the news to the disciples, they acted as the first instruments of the Great Commission, initiating a movement of transformation that we are called to follow.
The women at the tomb remind us that God chooses ordinary people to be a part of His mission. As followers of Christ, we are called to follow their example and become leaders in His name. To overcome our fear with faith, we are called to boldly proclaim His resurrection and practice His love in our daily lives.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for seeing potential in us even when we do not. Thank You for choosing the women at the tomb to share Your message. Grant us courage to live like them, boldly proclaiming Your Word and practicing Your love daily. May our actions inspire others toward a transformed life. Amen

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20
