The Lord Remembers the Faithful

Bible Reading:   Malachi 3:13–18

Key verse: “Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.” (Malachi 3:16 NIV)

DEVOTION

In Malachi’s day, many people had turned away from God, chasing after idols and ignoring His ways. Yet even in the midst of unfaithfulness, a small group remained faithful—they loved, feared, and honored the Lord. They encouraged one another to stay true, and God noticed their faithfulness. He promised that their names would be written in His “book of remembrance,” saying, “They will be mine,” says the LORD Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession” (Malachi 3:17 NIV).
That same promise is true for us today. In a world that celebrates wealth, power, and popularity, quiet faith and obedience can feel unnoticed. But Jesus reminds us that “Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:4 NIV). Every prayer lifted to Him, every kind act done in His name, every step of faith taken in obedience — none of it is ever forgotten.
This truth can be a source of strength, especially when we grow weary, that “at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”(Galatians 6:9 NIV). Even the smallest acts of faithfulness matter deeply to God.
One day, we will stand before Him and hear the words we long for: “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:21 NIV). Until then, let us encourage one another, just as the faithful did in Malachi’s time, walking with the confidence that our God sees, hears, and remembers us.

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for being a God who remembers. Give us strength to stay faithful, joy to serve You, and love to encourage one another. Remind us daily that nothing done for You is ever wasted. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
