Stay watchful, the Time is Near

Bible Reading:   Mark 13:28-37

Key verse:“Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭33‬

DEVOTION

This passage tells us that Jesus will come again at an unpredictable time. As we don’t know the exact hour of His return, so we ought to be vigilant and always prepared to receive Him.
Noah preached for years, unfortunately people did not repent. Though he never saw rainfall, he believed God and built the ark as instructed by Him. People ridiculed him. One morning, business started as usual, celebrations were going on and it started to rain. Just as the rain poured down and the flood came up at an unpredictable time, the coming of Jesus will be. Only Noah and his family were prepared for the flood in the safety of the ark, therefore the rest perished. This incident is recorded in the Scriptures for our admonition.
The first time Jesus incarnated as a suffering Servant, who vicariously died on the cross to redeem us from our sins. His second coming will be as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He will come to judge the world.
Nobody knows the exact hour of His arrival, besides the Father. We are told to be ready at all times. The door to salvation will be shut. No one can open the door that God closes, just as the door to the ark. Today is the day of salvation. God has promised us forgiveness for our repentance but not the next moment for our procrastination.

PRAYER

Father God, prepare us for Jesus’s second coming, so that we will be found worthy in His sight. Amen.
