Stand Firm On Gods Calling

Bible Reading:   Jeremiah 26:10-15

Key verse: Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people: “The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the things you have hear

DEVOTION

In Jeremiah 26:10-15, we see Jeremiah boldly delivering God's message, even when it put his life at risk. He stood firm, committed to God's calling despite the pressure to stay silent. God’s call often requires obedience, not comfort, and may lead us into uncomfortable or difficult situations. Jeremiah’s faithfulness cost him dearly—he was labeled a traitor and faced death—but he did not shrink back. Standing firm on God’s calling may require standing against the culture and popular opinion. Yet, like Jeremiah, we must trust in God's protection. Jeremiah’s confidence was in God's sovereignty, surrendering to His plan, knowing that God would prevail. His message of repentance and obedience was clear: the people’s response to God’s word mattered. Similarly, our obedience determines the fulfillment of God's purpose in our lives, even when it challenges the status quo. Standing firm means choosing God’s truth over comfort or convenience.

PRAYER

Lord, just as You gave Jeremiah the courage to stand firm in the face of opposition, grant us the strength to remain faithful to Your calling. Help us not to fear the consequences of obedience, but to trust in Your perfect plan and Your faithfulness. Give us the wisdom to speak Your truth in love, to stand firm on Your Word, and to obey You no matter the cost. May our life be a testimony of Your grace, and may we bring glory to Your name in all we do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
