The Gospel of Grace: Remaining faithful to the call

Bible Reading:   Galatians 2:1-10

Key verse:  We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. Galatians 2:5

DEVOTION

Just before reading the Epistle the deacon says this ‘The blessed Apostle Paul says “If any one, if we ourselves or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel at variance to the gospel we preached to you, he shall be held outcast’. Ever since the gospel was first preached, the devil has desperately tried to tweak and corrupt it, to undermine the salvific work on the cross. There are two things that are the corner stones of our faith; first, What Jesus did on the cross and his resurrection second the gospel is the power of God for the salvation of anyone who believes (Rom.1:16). In this Bible portion we see how satan tries to tell that Paul was teaching an incomplete gospel. Paul’s letter to the Galatians is a defense of the gospel he taught and he emphasizes that it is the one and only gospel. Jesus himself warned that anyone who does not receive this gospel will be condemned. But anyone who received it will be saved. (Mark 16:16). We see how Paul is steadfast and not even for a moment does he succumb for men’s approval. We have a gospel that has assured us freedom to live a life of faith in Christ, for God and for his glory. Let us not compromise it for anything in this world.

PRAYER

Our life is full of challenges that could shake our faith but we must be strong and have faith in the Gospel of Grace and always remain faithful to the call.
