Education: Grow in the Grace of God and Humans

Bible Reading:  Luke 2:40–52

Key verse:vs 52 :And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man

DEVOTION

His only begotten Son came down to this humble earth for our salvation. In the Gospel of Luke, we read that the Son grew in wisdom and faith. The mystery here is profound: the Son was with the Father from the very beginning—He is the Word, and through Him, all things were created. Despite His divine nature and infinite wisdom, the Son humbled Himself to learn and grow on this earth. Filled with His Father’s grace, He prepared Himself for the ultimate sacrifice that was destined for Him.
Like Jesus, we too must walk in humility and grace, regardless of our level of education or worldly success. We must always return to our roots as Christians, which is the Word of God, and continually humble ourselves before Jesus Christ. Christ provides us with the perfect example of what it means to pursue education—whether secular or spiritual—with humility and a heart anchored in God’s truth.
Our learning becomes truly fruitful only when it is guided by the grace of the Lord. I once heard a powerful interview from a well-known Christian preacher, now glorified in heaven. He shared that while pursuing his doctoral studies in Divinity at a prestigious institution, he began to struggle with doubt about God. This illustrates how worldly and secular education can place tremendous pressure on individuals, especially our younger generation, and can sow seeds of uncertainty about the Creator.
This is why, as Christians, we must nurture both academic excellence and spiritual growth in ourselves and in the next generation. We must ensure that our education is firmly grounded in faith. Too often, we struggle to articulate our beliefs or explain the foundations of our Christian training when challenged by others. But when we remain rooted in the Word and walk in grace, the Holy Spirit will reveal to us the mysteries of God in due time.

PRAYER

Heavenly gracious Father,
Thank You for giving us Jesus, Your only begotten Son, who became the ultimate and perfect sacrifice for all mankind.
Though He possessed infinite wisdom, Jesus humbled Himself to walk among us and to show us the way, the truth, and the life.
Lord, we seek Your mercy and grace to guide our understanding—both in our earthly lives and in the education we pursue.
Help us to remain rooted in Your Word, to grow in wisdom as Jesus did, and to use our knowledge to glorify You in all we do.
In Jesus’ name, we pray,
Amen.
