Singing from the Heart – A Lifestyle of Worship

Bible Reading: Ephesians 5:9-20

Key Verse: "speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ". (Eph. 5:19-20)

DEVOTION

Today, Worship immediately presents an image of songs, stage, worship team and instruments. Another view is the worship service we have in church. Though worship can be expressed in different forms, worship in its purest meaning is Worth-ship i.e. proclaiming His Worth to you. An essential question in this meaning of worship is: Who is HE to us? Do we truly KNOW Jesus? Does our daily life reflect the price that Christ paid for us through His death on cross or is it merely an emotional high, coldly mouthing words and a momentary nod to the goodness of GOD.
Am I offering my life everyday as a worship to GOD (Rom 12:1)? He is looking for obedience and surrender in our life than all the ‘things’ we do for him (1 Sam 15:22)? Worship with thanksgiving is not based on how we feel or how our day has gone. This is why Ephesians 5:20 clearly teaches us to give thanks to the Father for everything. Not only when things are going well and our spirits are high, but also when circumstances are difficult, when we are experiencing loss, when we lack answers, and when we are suffering, we have to give thanks. 1 Thes 5:18 teaches us that we are to give thanks because this is GOD’s will be concerning us. The most beautiful songs have been written in pain and suffering and is a sweet-smelling incense to GOD and an encouragement to others going through similar pain and offering hope. Is your life a song that encourages others to praise GOD?

PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus, help me know You more each day, worship You for who You are and what You’ve done. Teach me to obey and praise You in all seasons. I love You, Lord Jesus. In Your precious Name I pray, Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
True worship is not just music or moments; it's a rhythm of life surrendered daily to God, giving thanks in all things, and reflecting Christ in every circumstances.
