Called to be a witness 

Bible Reading: 2 Kings 7: 3 -11

DEVOTION

In 2 Kings 7, we witness a dramatic reversal of fortune for the people of Samaria. Besieged by the Syrian army, they faced starvation and imminent death. Yet, amidst this despair, a glimmer of hope emerged through the prophet Elisha's prophetic word and the unwavering faith of four lepers.
The four lepers, ostracized and isolated, found themselves in a desperate situation. Their physical condition mirrored the spiritual and emotional state of the nation. Yet, in their despair, they chose to trust in God. They acknowledged their impending doom but recognized that their current circumstances could not be worse. This realization led them to take a bold step of obedience, venturing into the Syrian camp.
Elisha's prophetic word played a crucial role in inspiring the lepers' faith. His assurance that the Lord would provide relief gave them hope in the midst of hopelessness. This prophetic guidance served as a beacon of light, guiding them towards a path of obedience and trust.
Their journey, filled with uncertainty and fear, led to an extraordinary encounter. The Syrian army, gripped by panic and believing that the Israelites had hired foreign armies against them, fled in terror, leaving their camp unattended. The lepers, seizing this opportunity, entered the camp and discovered abundant food and supplies.
The lepers, overwhelmed by their unexpected discovery, returned to Samaria to share their good fortune. However, their initial excitement was met with disbelief and skepticism. The people refused to believe their story until they witnessed the evidence firsthand. The lepers, once rejected and isolated, became witnesses to the power of God's miraculous intervention.
The lepers' obedience to Elisha's prophetic word was a key factor in their deliverance. Their willingness to step out of their comfort zones and trust in God's guidance led to a miraculous outcome. This story serves as a powerful reminder that obedience, even when it seems counterintuitive, can lead to unexpected blessings.
The story of the lepers in 2 Kings 7 serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of faith and obedience. Even in the darkest moments, God can work wonders through those who trust in Him. The lepers, despite their circumstances, were willing to step out of their comfort zones and follow God's guidance. Their obedience led to a miraculous deliverance and the salvation of a nation.
As we reflect on this story, let us be challenged to Trust in God's promises even when circumstances seem hopeless. Let's also be willing to witness and share our faith with others and be a beacon of hope in a world filled with darkness.
May we, like the lepers, be willing to step out of our comfort zones and trust in God's miraculous power.

PRAYER

Lord, our God, as we reflect on the story of the lepers in 2 Kings 7, we are filled with awe and gratitude for Your miraculous power. In their darkest hour, when hope seems lost, You intervened and turned their circumstances around.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Lord grant us the grace to be witnesses of your love and power. May our lives be a testimony to your goodness and faithfulness. Help us to share Your message of hope with those around us, knowing that you can use even the most unlikely people to bring about Your will.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation.
