    Education that Leads to Wisdom

  Bible portion: Proverbs 3:15-26
Verse:  Proverbs 3:26
For Jehovah will be thy confidence. And will keep thy foot from being taken.

Devotion
The theme for the Christian Education Forum is Education that leads to Wisdom. In 1 Kings Chapter 3 Verse 9 (NIV), we read that Solomon prayed for a “discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong”. By being the son of God-fearing King David, Solomon learned that only God is the true giver of wisdom which motivated King Solomon to seek wisdom from God more than fame or riches. In Proverbs Chapter 3 Versus 15
to 26,we read about how wisdom bestows well-being. When we look at the theme “Education that Leads to Wisdom”, we reflect on verse 26, where we learn about the benefits of well-being as a result of seeking and obtaining wisdom, namely “the Lord being at your side and keep your foot being snared”.
In the Bible, Jesus was so knowledgeable that everyone including the elders in the church and scholars were both inspired and motivated to learn more about the Scripture. Saint Luke talks about how “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (Luke 02: 52, NIV). Jesus, as God’s son, also knew about the importance of achieving wisdom through frequent prayer and meditation.
In conclusion, I believe that education does lead to wisdom.  Our life journey is composed of our life experiences and the knowledge we achieve. It is also with this knowledge; we must seek God to obtain wisdom to discern how to use this knowledge to live a purpose-driven life for God and with God. Then “the Lord being at your side and keep your foot being snared” will protect you.

                               Prayer
Father God, I pray that you are the giver of all good and perfect gifts. Grant us a discerning heart like you gave to King Solomon so we can lead your people that are entrusted to us, namely our children, families, our communities etc. Help us to govern/lead your people to do the right thing by distinguishing between right and wrong and always doing what is right in Your eyes, not ours. In Jesus’ most Precious Name we pray, Amen.
