 Remember The Poor

Galatians 2:1-10

"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me" (Matthew 25:40)
Devotion
Have you ever wondered about the poor? Have you ever witnessed poverty outside your community? It’s a sad reality today that we have no time to give it a thought based on our circumstances that there is still a world filled with poverty. What can we do to change that?  Charles Spurgeon once said, “He has not chosen many great, nor many mighty men of this world but He has chosen the poor of this world, rich in faith, to be heirs of the kingdom of God.” This has struck me as to be heirs of the kingdom of God the poor are eligible. In Galatians 2:1-10, Paul reminds us of the importance of remembering the poor. Just as Paul and the apostles acknowledged the necessity of caring for the marginalized, we too are called to action. Remembering the poor isn't merely a suggestion; it's a commandment rooted in Christ's teachings. It's about recognizing the inherent worth of every individual and extending love and support to those in need. We're urged not to overlook the plight of the less fortunate, but to actively seek ways to assist them. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply lending a listening ear, we can make a difference. Today, let's recommit ourselves to remembering the poor. Let's allow love to guide our actions, knowing that in serving others, we're serving Christ himself.
Prayer
Lord, forgive us for ignoring and marginalizing our fellow brothers and sisters in need.  Continue to remind us of your teaching to extend our love to our fellow neighbors and tend to their needs.  Help us to be your chosen vessel to bring about a positive impact in their life.  Amen.
