 Marriage - Call and Commission

 Ecc 4 : 9-10
Theme verse:
”If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬

Devotion: The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”“Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭18‬. God instituted marriage with a purpose to help one another, respect one another as both are created in His image. Above all, Christian couples are to honor God with their lifestyle, being a blessing to others. God was the celebrant of the first wedding, of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.
Man is a social being and need companionship for his potential to bloom. Through Christian marriage, we must have fellowship with a believer, who will help us and correct us, when we go astray. We assist one another, as we have a common purpose in life, to glorify God. We love one another as Christ loved the church. Everything is done in love and under the banner of love, the greatest of all virtues. In marriage, communication skill is important as one must discuss issues in love and be transparent in their dealings. We must be humble, faithful, and forgiving, for the success of the marriage. Don’t continue the blame game of Adam and Eve in the garden. Rather than being accusatory, find a solution. If one cannot be faithful to their life partner whom they see, how can they be faithful to God, whom they don’t see? Don’t be suspicious without proof, it can ruin relationships. We build our life rooted in Christ, our foundation. We cooperate and compliment one another. We must not compete with one another. The abilities one’s life partner has is complimentary. Therefore we must not be competitive with one another. We have a common goal, salvation, spending eternity with Christ. We have a common Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. We carry Him and glorify Him. Be a couple of integrity, be a billboard pointing Christ to others.
Believers must marry a believer. If one happens to marry an unbeliever, do not divorce the person, but win the partner for Christ by the way one lives. Marriage is a life time deal, under all circumstances, till God calls us back home. It is a covenant relationship and must not be broken as a contract. The third Person in this covenant is God, He binds us together in love. When we divorce, we are mocking God, who instituted marriage. The grounds for divorce is only unfaithfulness in marriage, having extra-marital relationships, which can lead to sexually transmitted diseases. The root cause of domestic violence is mental illness, which must be treated.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Enable us to lead exemplary Christian family lives, being an example for others. In Jesus name. Amen.
Thought for the Day
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.“ ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭21‬
