  FAMILY:  AN EXPRESSION OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD


Bible portion: Genesis 2: 18-25

V:22 Then the Lord made a woman from thee rib he had taken out of man, and he brought her to the man.

  Amidst of all good creation we see in the book of Genesis, God evaluated and deemed that it is not good for the man to be alone.  Without a female companion, procreation and full realization of humanity is not complete.  So God evaluated and pronounced a remedy.  
             God then created beasts of the fields, and the birds of the  air and asked the man to name them and he did.   Next we see the God the surgeon and anesthesiologist   put the man into a deep sleep – he removed one f adam's rib and closed the wound with flesh.    God then made the woman out of the rib from man.  And she was brought before the man,but she was not named yet. Next we see the God instituted the first matrimony
of the first couple. The two are made to become one flesh,  not fruitful yet, but allowed intimate companionship. It is God who facilitates human  marriage and wonderful companionship. 
              The institution of marriage was set up by God, which allowed man and woman to have a bond that makes  two into one flesh. Just as God is soverign, we should acknowledge his Kingship over our lives and   marriages.  In v: 24  Instead of  remaining under the protective custody of the parents, a man leaves them and unites with his wife, establishes a new famiy unit.   Together they form an inseparable unit, as that between a child and the parent.  As parent  and children  are of same flesh and blood, husband and wife are bound together as one flesh  - which is the divine institution of marriage.
               To conclude this portion in meditation, it is important to note that freedom from shame, v;24   signifies moral innocence evident in the first couple, which was lost as a result of sin  or disobedience of the man and his wife through serpent.

Prayer
 you are the reason for the family, you instituted the matrimony and  companionship of  man and the woman.  Help us to accept  your sovereign Kingship in our lives and  marriages. Please bless our families . Amen.

Thought for the Day

  The divine institution of marriage dictates monogamy. It is a God ordained covenant relationship between man and woman, a lifelong sexually exclusive relationship, brings generation into the world and sustain stewardship of the earth.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God. Priests are always separated and appointed as channels that connect God with his people.
