 Youth With Christ


1 Timothy 4:11-16 

Growing up, I used to wish I could be like the older youth at my church. They were only 5-10 years older than me but they looked so cool and accomplished. Everyone would gravitate towards them. But what I loved most about them was how they cared for the people they encountered. I saw them talk to both the oldest and youngest members of the church with such attention and care. They made sure people left them experiencing Jesus’ love. I used to tell myself, I can’t wait to grow up and be like them. What I did not realize then was that I could do what they were doing at my age. I didn’t have to wait to grow up to be able to share Christ’s love and His story. 
 
Paul reminds Timothy in this passage that his age should not discourage him from setting an example for those around him. He should still boldly share God’s word, be an example and teach those around him. Likewise, we have been called to be an example to those around us. We should have the courage to share Scripture, to preach the Good News, and to encourage and teach other believers to follow God’s calling in their lives. However, this is easier said than done. To boldly step out in faith, we must equip ourselves with the confidence and boldness of the Holy Spirit to be on our words and actions daily, we must dwell on His Word and understand it wholly and we must seek out community and counsel to support us on this journey of life. 
 
By doing so and pressing into God’s Word and earnestly following Christ’s example, we not only better someone else’s life, but we reaffirm our faith and better equip ourselves daily to face the world we live in today. As we continue to reflect on this passage, let us consider our own lives: Do we leave people better than when they came to us? Do our actions and words reflect an example we want others to follow? 
 
Prayer: Dear Lord, we ask for the courage and confidence to set an example today for others to follow and not to wait around thinking we are not old enough or equipped to share Your love with those around us. Help us be bold for Your Kingdom daily. Amen.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God. Priests are always separated and appointed as channels that connect God with his people. All throughout the history of Israel, priests played an important role in connecting people with God and to lead and guide them in the statutes of God.
