Be Witnesses of the Risen Lord
Ps 85
Show us your unfailing love, LORD, and grant us your salvation.
Psalm 85 is a powerful reminder of God's mercy and faithfulness towards His people. The psalmist begins by acknowledging the Lord's past acts of kindness and forgiveness, asking Him to restore His favor upon His people once again.
As Christians, we too are called to be faithful servants of the Lord, listening to His words and following His commands. We are called to be witnesses of the risen Lord, sharing the good news of His resurrection and the salvation that comes through faith in Him. In verse 9, the psalmist says, "Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land." As we share the message of salvation with others, we must do so with reverence and respect for the Lord, knowing that His glory will dwell in our midst and His promise to show mercy to His people. As we trust in the Lord and remain faithful to Him, we too can have confidence in His mercy and grace towards us.
Psalm 85 is a beautiful and powerful expression of hope and trust in God's mercy and redemption. It is a call to all believers to be witness of the risen Lord, to testify to the grace and love that God has shown us through Jesus Christ.
The psalm begins with a prayer for God's forgiveness and restoration, recognizing our own weakness and the need for God's mercy. It speaks of God's past faithfulness in saving his people and asks for that same mercy to be shown once again. God’s redemption is always available to those who turn to him in humility and faith.
As we reflect on Psalm 85, we are reminded of the incredible love and mercy of God, and our own need for his redemption. We are called to be witness of the risen Lord, to share the good news of his grace and salvation with all who will listen. May we be faithful in this calling, and may God's glory dwell in our land.
In conclusion, Psalm 85 reminds us of the importance of repentance, faithfulness, and obedience to God's word. As witnesses of the risen Lord, we are called to share the message of salvation with others, trusting in His faithfulness and mercy towards us. May we always be mindful of the Lord's love and grace, and may we always seek to follow His will and His ways.
