Children to be brought for Christ

Proverbs 3: 1-12
V6 “in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”

God guides us by the wisdom which is contained in the Bible. The book of Proverbs enriches us with wisdom and guidance for success in all areas of life. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and it would be ideal to read a chapter daily as it teaches us how to be successful in any life situation we may encounter.

Psalm 25:12-13 reminds us, when we fear the Lord, he will show us the path we should choose.  “Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose. They will spend their days in prosperity…”  What is Prosperity? It’s the “good experiences” in life. Life is an experience. How can you make the experience good?
Once a rich man asked Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus told him he needs to sell all his possessions, give the money to the poor, and then he will have treasures in heaven. When the man heard this, he became very sad as he was very rich. The man’s love for his riches shows us that he had not perfectly obeyed God. He did not love God or others the way God expects. Our love for riches is a form of idolatry. Submitting to God means surrendering yourself to Him completely. It means making Him the Lord of your life and submitting to His will for you. It’s a decision to follow Jesus and live according to His teachings. We can submit to God and resist the devil by prayer, having faith in God, reading the word of God, genuine repentance, trusting God, and obeying God. All these require us to humble ourselves to his authority so he can set our paths straight.
David had many experiences in his life. He faced the giant Goliath, fought a lion, fought a bear, his son turned against him, and was attacked by Saul. Since he feared the Lord, all these turned out to be good experiences. Ps 25: 14 says “the Lord is a friend to those who fear him.” Live fearing the Lord. You will live in prosperity because God will show you the path to choose in life. Otherwise, the path will bring a crown of thorns for you.
Man tends to choose paths that give instant pleasure, happiness, fame, enjoyment etc but those are temporary. Paths not chosen by God will make you lose satisfaction. If our choices are wrong, then there will be failures in life. If we fear the Lord, we will receive instruction from him and experience God’s presence and enjoy his blessings in life. When you need to make a choice, rely on God to get help with your choices.

Prayer
O Lord, let my paths be what you have chosen. Give us discernment between the right and wrong ways of life. Let us not choose any path on our own. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Thought of the Day
If you believe that Jesus will show you the path to choose, then surrender your life to him.
