 Youths: Inheritors of Faith

Titus 2:1-15

Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you. V.15

At some point in your life, you may have had to train or teach someone a particular skill. For example, as a parent you may have taught your child to tie their shoes or as an employee, how to file documents in the office etc. We go into these experiences with a certain expectation, that is to perform a job or duty with little to no supervision. There are rules and consequences to these tasks and as a teacher we are to communicate that to them appropriately. Today’s passage is just like this. We learn the faith from us forefathers and mothers and our goal are to pass it down from generation to generation. We are entrusted to educate fellow believers so that they may not fall into error and build up the kingdom of God here on earth. All of us have a role to play in defending and guarding or faith whether we are young or old. Youths, in particular, are called out to show integrity and dignity in all that they do even if it is not reciprocated back to them.

Next time you pray, give a devotion, or teach a class remember that you want those individuals to receive salvation through Jesus Christ and that involves renouncing ungodliness and worldly passions. However, before you do that, you must ask yourself the following question: Am I living a self-controlled, upright, and godly life? We should remember to fix and heal ourselves before helping others. We must remember the latin phrase “lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi” which means the law of what is prayed [is] the law of what is believed [is] the law of what is lived.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, give us wisdom and the ability to be inheritors of the true faith. Help us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions and show integrity and dignity before others, even when it is difficult. Amen
