 Environment Sunday

  Genesis 1:1-19

Hawaii is known for its beautiful and pristine beaches, emerald valleys, sharp mountain spires, and jagged cliffs and often is referred to as paradise on Earth. One of the most beautiful islands in Kauai which is surrounded by plentiful reefs and all kinds of sea creatures and many ranks it as the most beautiful place on Earth. If you have ever seen the movies like Jurassic Park or Avatar you have seen the beauty of Kauai island on screen as well.
In Genesis 1:1-19, we read about the awesome manner in which God created each aspect of the world. God created the World with the utmost care and love. We realize in this passage the amazing creativity and vision God had for this world when He created the water, land, plants, animals, and finally humans. God created the perfect place for His greatest creation humans to live and thrive in.
When we look at places like Hawaii, we are awestruck by our God, who created it. The richness of a sunset, the star-filled sky, and the collection of animals both big and small all bear witness to a Creator and Designer that created such an awe-inspiring planet.
Seeing God’s creation can invite us into a deeper admiration for God and His handiwork. The beauty of creation is a reminder of God and when we respect any part of God’s creation, be it nature or another human being, we are showing love to what God created and thereby showing love to the Creator.
As an act of gratitude to Him for this beautiful planet He entrusted us with, let us find ways to preserve and protect the perfect plant He gave us and the creations in it. On this Environment Sunday, may each of us make it our personal ministry to conserve the planet God gave us dominion over.

Prayer
Our Father, we thank You for creating this perfect planet for us that is filled with such marvelous creations and that sustains us. Help us to continue to make every effort to care for and preserve the World You have entrusted us with. In Jesus, we pray, Amen.

Thought of the day

“I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.” ― George Washington Carver
