FAMILY -THE REPLICA OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD

I JOHN 2:7-17
Vs 17 “ And the world passeth away and the lust thereof. but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.”
Family is the God-established small unit of His kingdom on the Earth. God started the institution
of a family starting from the garden and He has given rules for the family to live and succeed. We
are all created for a purpose and that is to praise Him and worship Him. Idolatry is forbidden in
His eyes and He have given specific commandments for His people to obey and follow. We are
all kingdom seekers. We are in the pursuit of finding a kingdom where we are known and loved.
We are looking for a kingdom where there is peace, joy, and happiness. Heaven is a place where
Bible says there is no suffering or pain, and life is eternal. what happens here in this earthly life
is important as all that we do, see and perform are measured by heavenly values and
standards. Our heavenly immortality is not determined by our earthly celebrity, pompous life
that we lead but by the heavenly God-pleasing actions and decisions that we execute while
living in God’s world the earth. Thus, our roles in the God’s miniature heavenly unit the family is
important. If we want to make a lasting difference on earth, we have to set a realistic
visualization of heaven. As per C. S Lewis, if we aim to attain a heavenly bliss on earth, we have
to aim to lead a heavenly life here. On the contrary, if our aim is only for a successful life in this
perishable earth our destiny and finish will be a total disappointment.
Here is today’s portion for meditation Paul gives a new commandment. This is to walk in the light
Christ provides. If we want to walk in Christ’s light, we have to love one another and obey His
commandments. Jesus says unless one is born again and has the re-birth experience, one
cannot enter the kingdom of God. If we claim that we are in the light and hate our brother, we
are still in darkness. Jesus has taught us that love is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets.
In Deut 6;5 it reads “Love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your
strength.”
Paul concludes the topic with the exhortation not to love the world. Romans 12:1 reads “Do
not be conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind “I John 2 17 reads “And the world passeth away and the lust thereof. But he that doeth
the will of God abideth forever “.
May we resolve today to be good citizens of this God’s unit of His Kingdom in Earth -The family
and thus lead a life glorifying Him.
Prayer

Lord teach us to obey your commandments. Let us love one another and remain in your love and be dear and near to you, Amen
