 Holy Qurbana:Sacraments of Thanks Giving

Acts 2: 37-47

Acts 2: 45-47:- “They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.”

They sold their properties to give for the needy. They met together, they broke bread together and ate together with sincere hearts. They prayed together and praised God with all the people! I would like you all to pause for a second and re-read Acts 2:45-47. What do these words speak to you? To me, this is an ideal Church or a community. When I say a Church, I don’t mean just inside the four walls of a building, but each and every one of us. Now the question is, are we being that ideal Church or how far are we from being that ideal Church? These new believers just did not get up one morning and started selling all their properties, having fellowship together and believing in Jesus. They only believed because they witnessed the glory of God through the words and actions of Peter and the other apostles because they were filled with the Holy Spirit. They felt the aroma of Jesus through them. As believers of Christ, we are supposed to be the witness of Christ and others ought to see Christ through our actions and words. We should be spreading the aroma of Christ through us. A question that we have to ask ourselves is: what kind of aroma are we spreading? Do we portray the life and miracle of Jesus? If we are not, then the question that might help us here is the same questions these people asked Peter and the other apostles: “what shall we do?” Peter replied: “Repent and be baptized,”. When we repent we will also receive the gift of Holy Spirit, the same spirit Peter and the other apostles received. As we can see in Acts 1:8, when we receive the Holy Spirit, we will also be the witnesses of Jesus in Jerusalem, and Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. My fellow beings, REPENT and pray that we will be able to portray the Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-control of Jesus Christ to others today and every day of our lives. Let the aroma of Jesus spread through us.

Prayer
ABBA, as David prayed: “Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me.” Amen!

Thought for the Day
What kind of Church are you? Do you portray Jesus Christ? If not, how can you portray Him?
