 Elderly generation: Aged for Engagements

Psalms 71
v3 Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

Our psalm seems to have an unknown author who is very close to God. It’s a prayer of an aged believer and can be associated too closely with the life of King David who could have rendered it during the crisis of Absalom's rebellion.
Engagements through Spiritual Discourses: According to Charles Spurgeon, we have here “the prayer of an aged believer, who in holy confidence of faith, strengthened by a long and remarkable experience, pleads against his enemies, and asks further blessings for himself.” The author in all of his giving-up situations takes up the courage to continue spiritual discourses even when he is aged. Our spiritual discourse has to be enriched in every way possible by involvement in both public worship and personal prayers. Every aged person in the church needs to have such kind of spiritual discourses especially during this Covidian era. Though the aged are restricted to visit public places such spiritual discourses through various platforms are possible today.
Engagements for Deliverance Resources:  A person is always filled with various resources and for an aged person experiences are the best most valuable resources. The trust and hope in the God “Yahweh” turns out as main resources for the author. Deliverance from evil power is always an urge that’s needed for a believer. The remarkable experiences of the past will strengthen every aged believer to share it with others which will indeed become a hope for many. Aged people who are healthy should make courage to join the frontline workers and fight against the evils of the society.    
There are no roadblocks for taking up the challenges or implementing the same. Our faith, trust and hope in the Lord Almighty will be the pillars for success and will be rewarded with amazing grace.

PRAYER
Dear Lord, help us to entrust our faith and hope in you, so that we may become true valuable engagements even in our old age. Amen.

A lifetime of closer walk with God makes age an asset to the society.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God. Priests are always separated and appointed as channels that connect God with his people. All throughout the history of Israel, priests played an important role in connecting people with God and to lead and guide them in the statutes of God.
