COMMUNION WITH RISEN LORD IN DAILY LIFE
2 Timothy 2 : 1-13
V 1 You  then, my child , be strengthened by the Grace  that is in Christ Jesus.
This is apostle Paul’s farewell letter in the New Testament. He had run his race; he had fought the good fight and was nearing his end. Are there things in our life which are scary and cause us to be weak and overly anxious, especially during this pandemic when the future is so uncertain? Do we feel living for Christ and be good Christian is getting difficult? Paul, in his epistle, as Timothy's mentor, is advising him to be strengthened from his timid and fearful nature, instructing him to serve the Lord. Paul is strengthening Timothy for what lies ahead, when he will no longer be around, and the persecution across roman empire, which may weaken his faithful assistant.
We are also exhorted by Paul to be strengthened every moment of our life by the grace of our Lord Jesus. When we are saved by his unmerited favor, through faith and repentance before His throne of Grace, we are strengthened by His powerful shield of protection, mercy and compassion.
From a spiritual perspective when we persevere and trust him, God's grace comes on our way to strengthen us. Believers in Christ are chosen by God before the foundation of the world. Just as the greatest aim of the soldier is the pleasure of the commanding officer, for an athlete it is the victor's crown, and to the farmer his hard toil and sufferings are for the good crops, we need to endure suffering and to serve Lord Christ Jesus and please him always. This will ultimately strengthen us in our weakness.
Lastly, apostle reminds that our God is faithful even when we are unfaithful, because He cannot deny his nature. Paul endured all suffering for the believers so that they may obtain salvation with eternal life. This ultimate prize should encourage each one of us to endure suffering for the Gospel.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help each one us to trust and obey you, for there is no other way to receive blessings from you. We need you Lord at each moment of our life. Amen.
