The Forgiving Christ
Romans 5:6-11
Vs 9 “Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath trough Him”.
This great lent season we meditate on the different attributes of Christ, such as, transforming Christ, cleansing Christ, forgiving Christ, receiving Christ, redeeming Christ, reinstating Christ, and so on. This week the theme of our meditation is based on the forgiving of Christ.

The theme of the letter to Romans is the ‘justification by grace through faith’. Justification is an act of forgiveness of God, which is the quality of Christ. Once a theologian said “Grace means God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense”. We are justified and forgiven by the blood of Christ. The first man disobeyed God by an act of sin, which results the loss of Eden. The displacement of the blissful seat was not  only due to disobedience but man’s blaming nature rather than repenting on his sin. I believe that, if the first man repents on his sinful action, the graceful God might have forgiven him and reinstated him. We all remember the old saying, to err is human and to forgive is Divine. We can see the forgiving nature of Christ even at the last phase of His death.  His prayer on the cross to his father was for the forgiveness of the people who crucified him.

Reconciliation is an evidence of being forgiven, a manifestation of grateful heart for grace bestowed on us. Mathew 6. 14 say, “For if you forgive men for their transgressions, your Heavenly father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men then your Father will not forgive your transgressions”. This is what we pray in our daily prayer also. Forgiveness is the nature and quality of Christ, which is imparted on us when God created us. We have been justified by the grace through faith.  To be a Christian is also to be a forgiven sinner and redeemed by the blood of Christ. God showed His great love and forgiveness for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. I was forgiven. I became a new creature on that day when I received the forgiveness. He justified me by His Grace and declared that I am not guilty any more. Let us start to forgive others, so we can receive the forgiveness from God. Let us ask God to forgive our sins, cleanse us, redeem us and reinstate us by the grace of God.
 PRAYER
Thank you God for that we are forgiven. Thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for your son Jesus the Christ. In Jesus name. Amen
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Jesus Christ died for us is the final proof of God’s love and forgiveness.
