The Passion to Evangelize
Mark 16:14-19
“ He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’ (Mark 16:15)

In today’s meditation, we read of Jesus’ call to the Eleven to go out all over the world to preach the gospel. That call from Christ held power, and holds power still.
Yet, before Jesus commissions the eleven disciples to preach the gospel to all creation, he rebukes these men for their stubbornness to believe the others that had seen him after he had risen. They were rebuked for their lack of faith, but the call of Christ showed a different path for them. Jesus called them people of little faith, people of no faith and also he commended the people with a great faith. Jesus wanted them to have a faith like the faith of the Canaanite women; a great faith. They received the faith and passion which brought them to know and accept God’s will for their lives.
Jesus used the Eleven, imperfect as they were in their faith, and let them know the faith and passion that they should hold in speaking his name. We read that signs follow speaking “in my name.”  It is Jesus’ name that has the power to drive out demons, speak in tongues, hold snakes with bare hands, drink deadly poison, and to heal the sick. Not only that, it has the power to save the people from condemnation.
Jesus’ rebuke of the disciples addresses his personal relationship with each of those men. Evangelism begins with that close relationship with Christ.  Passion to evangelize continues with the knowledge that His call and His name hold all power. Let us think about our passion to evangelize. Can our work places, schools and families be our mission fields then we have enough opportunities to show our passion to evangelize. Let us dedicate for this great passion to be part of God mission on earth.
Prayer: Lord, help us to hear the calling you have for us in our lives. We also pray that we may truly know the power of speaking Your Name.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation.
